USPS Headed Toward Global Growth in Business

The Postal Service recently expanded its partnership with the U.S. Department of Commerce to help support the government’s newly established National Export Initiative (NEI). The initiative, unveiled by President Obama, calls for a doubling of exports over the next five years.

You also can save money by using a postal-qualified wholesaler to ship your materials overseas. A wholesaler combines mailings from other companies to get volume discounts and passes the savings on to its customers. In turn you can pass the savings on to your customers to help secure additional business.

International development will be achieved by providing foreign-market expertise to businesses interested in expanding their exports. The USPS Global Business team will work with the Commerce Department’s International Trade Administration and U.S. Commercial Service to provide free resources and tools to interested businesses. The first phase of this initiative will target businesses currently shipping to one foreign market through USPS.

Not only can you reap the benefits of overseas growth to expand your business interests, you can also add global clients to your database for your mail marketing.

Bulk Mail, to Save or not to Save...

Even if your mailing has the required number of mailpieces to qualify for a discount price, you still have to perform some of the work the Postal Service would normally do to receive the discount.

When deciding whether to undertake a commercial mailing, you should consider:

  • Your technology and equipment, such as computers and software, will influence the discount services you can use and the time it will take you to complete the work.
  • Your budget, the amount of money you spend on a mailing is more than just the cost of postage.
  • You should also consider the cost of designing and printing your mailpieces and obtaining a mailing list.
If you can’t dedicate the technology or time to a commercial mailing, consider using a mail service provider or retail mailing services, which lets you quickly prepare and send your mailing. As your business grows, your resources may allow you to take advantage of additional discounts.

What was 1963 Like? USPS Zip Code...

The Year the US Post Master introduced the Zip Code!

What was 1963 like?

The Beatles had short hair !http://johnochwat.files.wordpress.com/2008/04/beatles_1963.jpg

Founded in Liverpool during the late '50s by guitarists John Lennon, Paul McCartney, and George Harrison, with drummer Pete Best and Stu Sutcliffe on bass, the Beatles were just getting started...

Elvis Presley was canned !
http://cs.nga.gov.au/Detail.cfm?IRN=45234

1963, Elvis Presley, the man who caused stage-rushing among teenage girls, fistfights amongst boys, and riots among both, was a family-friendly icon of the first order. Worse than that, he was a marketable brand name, as evidenced by Andy Warhol's "pop art" renderings of Elvis that year.

Kennedy, Marilyn and civil rights riots! The world was changing rapidly and the USPS established Zip Codes. 1963, what a year!
